Step 1: Create your free account (5 minutes)

Step 4: Create your opt-in page (20 minutes)

An opt-in page is a simple page where people swap their email address for something useful.

Click Funnels, then create a new funnel with the goal "Build an audience". systeme.io builds two pages for you: the opt-in page and the thank-you page.

Edit the headline so it names the result your reader wants. Keep the form short. A first name and email is plenty.

Step 5: Attach your free download (15 minutes)

Step 7: Publish and share (15 minutes)

Test everything first. Sign up with your own email, check the download works and make sure the welcome email arrives.

Then share your opt-in page link everywhere: your social media bio, your email signature, your Google Business Profile and on Pinterest.

That's it. You have a website, a blog and an email list, and it cost you nothing.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Perfecting the design for weeks. Done and live beats beautiful and hidden. You can tweak it later.
• Asking for too much information. Every extra form field means fewer sign-ups. Stick to name and email.
• Never emailing your list. Send something helpful at least once a month, or people forget who you are.
• Skipping the test. Always sign up yourself first to check the download and email work.
